Del and I took the Burke Gilman around the North end of Lake Washington, on our way to Wade’s (the gun shop and shooting range Del mentioned in his latest post).
We stopped along the way, at a park along the Sammamish River. We’ve been learning from these trips that food and rest are mighty important along the way. Below is a close-up of the snack you can see me devouring in the last post (peanut-butter, pumpkin seed, and banana on cinnamon-raisin bread that we took from a dumspter a month or so back–YUM).
Del stepped up first to show me the ropes at the shooting range. Below shows his .22 pistol (a mighty fun gun to practice targets with).
And the results are in..
Then came the real fun:
This is a Bond Arms ‘Derringer Snake Slayer’ (MANSTUFF)…this thing is beastly. Del can be seen laughing at the size of the caliber, below:
This was the first time he had the chance to try it out. He was quite giddy (it was adorable).
My entire core shook when I fired this gun. I actually had to set it down after the first shot, because I couldn’t handle the amount of power it held; the shot rattled my arms–the vibration traveled up to my shoulders, and into my abdomen. He did a lot better than I–myself having missed the target COMPLETELY my first try. Here are the results of his first round:
We continued along to Issaquah, but not without allowing ourselves a chance to stop and give a good smirk at the cost of gas these days.
And at all of the lonely drivers sitting in traffic.
At another spot where we stopped to rest for a few. One of my favorite sights this world holds:
The landscape here has spoiled me, I’m sure.
It was, indeed, yet another fantastic getaway. ‘Til next time.
